Transfermarkt.be has completed an interim update of market values in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League. Especially at Club Brugge, there are numerous changes, which is partly due to the strong performances in the Champions League and partly due to the large number of new arrivals, whose market values have been revised.

“A 1-1 draw against the star ensemble of Paris Saint-Germain and a 2-1 win at RB Leipzig ensured that the protagonists of the reigning titleholders have made a name for themselves across Europe,” Transfermarkt Area Manager Bart Tamsyn explains. “This is particularly true for attacking all-rounder Charles De Ketelaere, who has mostly been used as a striker this season and is certainly already on the radars of several top international clubs.”

The 20-year-old, who is now also part of the squad of the Belgian national team, makes a jump of €9 million and now leads the league-internal ranking with €25 million together with his teammate Noa Lang. The Dutch forward is also among the winners of the update, increasing his market value by €3 million.

Hans Vanaken, who has been a lynchpin at Club Brugge for years and has also shown his strengths on the international stage this season, also earned himself an upgrade of the same amount. Meanwhile, the updated summer signings include Kamal Sowah (+4 to €7 million) and returnee Wesley (-3 to €10 million) of Aston Villa, who has yet to find his way back to old strength after major injury problems.

The podium of the most valuable players of the Jupiler Pro League is completed by Paul Onuachu. Last season’s top scorer of KRC Genk is once again one of the players in the league who make the difference this season and receives an upgrade of €2 to now €22 million in the current update.

JPL market values: Frey with career high - Nainggolan downgraded

However, he has been replaced as top scorer for now. Swiss forward Michael Frey is currently in the form of his life and has already scored 12 league goals in 10 matches for his new club Royal Antwerp. The result is a career-high €4 million (+1.8 million) for the 27-year-old. On the other hand, his teammate Radja Nainggolan, who has not yet been able to meet the high expectations following his return to Belgium, is downgraded from €5 million to €4 million.

Other winners include Standard Liège’s Hugo Siquet (+2 to €7 million) and Arnaud Bodart (+1.5 to €6.5 million), who are attracting a lot of interest from abroad despite their club’s disappointing season so far, or Colombian Genk defenders Jhon Lucumí (+2 to €13 million) and Carlos Cuesta (+2 to €8 million). “The last transfer windows have shown which sums are now paid for defensive players from Belgium,” Area Manager Tamsyn explains. “Not only in the case of Odilon Kossounou (to Leverkusen for €23 million), for whom a new record fee for a defender in Belgium was received. That is one of the reasons why players like Siquet or Lucumí are now being upgraded again.”
